Annual Abstracting Seminar
A small group(15 of us) gathered for two days last week to go through the annual MN “Principles of Abstracting, Searching and Land Records Management” seminar. Three County Recorders, one auditor-treaurer, one Indian Reservation, 3 abstractors, 2 IT software professionals who work with land records, 4 title insurance people and me. The group was really a quick study. I have never moved so seamlessly through a class, especially teaching legal descriptions, where I could read a line, and the class drew the description as we went along - WOW!
Comments on the program evaluation were excellent, including my favorite - “Stangely enough, I will strongly recommend this class to others…”
Thanks everyone. I enjoyed your comraderie and hope to see you all again!

Morning Jeanne,
I truly enjoyed the class again. I now will be that little bit more better at my job because of your class.
I think the closer in my came out yesterday when I stated that there was a bankruptcy information phone number to call.
Bankruptcy Hotline: 1-800-959-9002
This system has options for searching by case number, social security numbers, and names. I try to search all my sellers, especially when I am working on foreclosures or short sales.
I also have one more tool to share. I was on hold with one of the counties trying to find out information about a judgment and heard about a website that one could use.
http://pa.courts.state.mn.us/ This is a case search for civil, family, & probate. Again I am starting to use this for my foreclosure and short sale files. I don’t need a surprise coming up a couple days before closing.
Thanks
Jenny
